Sending and host organizations
Your sending organization is Fundacja dla Wolnosci
The Foundation was created at the end of 2004. It is a place for discussion. We try to break stereotypes, put into question the commonly held perception, increase sensitivity to human suffering. We also promote knowledge of individual and collective rights, in particular the right for freedom of expression, access to information and education. Our aim is also to present the diversity of cultures and beliefs.
The Foundation is the author of the „T-shirt for Freedom” social campaign which in 2005 has revolutionized the debate on the taboo in Poland. Keynotes like „I am Negro”, “I’m gay” or “I do not listen to the Pope” were commonly discussed in media and still provide a reference point in the discussion of prejudices.
Since 2007 it has been organizing voluntary services and youth exchanges within the „Youth in Action” Program of the European Union. Dozens of its volunteers have worked in almost all European countries, as well as Armenia, Georgia, Lebanon, Mexico and Turkey. It also tries to fight against racism and sexism in sports (annual football tournaments for women and refugees) and antisemitism (debates and exhibitions “Antisemitic Graffiti”).

Your host organization is Alter Nativa
The roots of this association within its informal activities reach back to years 1997-99. In 2002 the formal association Alter Nativa has been found, which was dealing mostly with environmental projects as well as establishment of local community while introducing alternative economics concern into the life of our members and later of those interested in the ideas of community reestablishment and shared assistance. It is aiming to address the positive change in today’s life-values of people towards resurrection of respect for Nature and all life, turning from consumption and overproduction to reasonable modesty, from aggression to tolerance, from competitiveness to co-operation, from obsession by material welfare to development of spiritual values and restoration of community in its true sense towards sustainability and ethic. It is supporting ideas of decentralisation and democracy, bringing decision making closer to community, to local level, and fulfilling human needs first of all from local resources.

What SAVE HERITAGE, CREATE FUTURE! is?
Alter Nativa is a Slovak organization dealing with nature protection, environment and sustainable rural development using principles of Permaculture.
Save heritage, create future is a short-term EVS project with Activity running for 2 weeks on September 5th – September 18th 2010. The main aim of the project is to save one of the last old-way built traditional village houses in our small village Brdarka. We will try to renew it by using natural or nature friendly building techniques and materials (clay, wood, stone, straw). The house was built by our grand-fathers from dried earth bricks right in the centre of our village. After renovation, it will be used as Environmental Information Centre theoretically and practically by showing methods and materials used on it and also by our EVS volunteers. They will provide information to our visitors as a part of their EVS in our long term project Centre of Alternative Lifestyle running and still developing in Brdarka since 2004.
This EVS project will also allow participants to get basic information about Permaculture and sustainable rural development, visit two National parks of Eastern Slovakia with its beautiful caves and to know history and presence of a region rich on mining, crafts and fruit-growing traditions.
